TERMS OF USE

Consent to Osteopathic Care
All practitioners at Movement Matters Osteopathy are required to perform treatments with your consent, and will ensure that informed consent is obtained.
Informed consent is the valid consent of the patient to proposed examination or treatment or procedure (referred to as ‘treatment’), after appropriate advice and information has been
provided by the practitioner.

The following guidelines apply to all treatments:

-
Patients have the right to receive or refuse any treatment. You may voluntarily consent to
the proposed treatments and understand that you can withdraw this consent at any time.
-
Patients may cease treatment at any point for any reason. If you decide to discontinue treatment, inform your practitioner promptly. You are able to communicate any discomfort
or concerns to your practitioner at any time.
-
Patients have the opportunity to ask questions of their practitioner during their treatment.
-
Patients will be informed that, like any health procedure, there are risks associated with osteopathic treatment and massage therapy. While serious and permanent harm is extremely rare, temporary soreness and exacerbations are relatively common.
-
The practice of osteopathy, including osteopathic cervical manipulation, and massage
therapy, may involve slight risks, including but not limited to muscle and joint soreness,
muscle strains, joint/ligament sprains, inflammation, fractures, disc injuries, strokes or
stroke-like episodes, damage to nerves and blood vessels, and transient ischemic attack.
The specific risks relevant to any treatment will be explained to you during your treatment.
-
Patients understand that the treatment and advice that is given will be reliant on the information that the patient has provided. An incorrect or incomplete medical history provided
by the patient may result in less effective treatment or increased risks during treatment.
